AREX ONE AR Dive Mask

AREX ONE AR dive mask concept
Overview

Dive data directly in your line of sight

AREX ONE is a new augmented-reality dive-mask concept that combines a conventional scuba mask with a built-in dive computer and near-eye optical display. The idea is simple: depth, time, decompression information, compass data and other important information can remain visible without repeatedly looking down at a wrist computer.

As of September 2026, AREX ONE is still a functional prototype and active Kickstarter project. The manufacturer states that the final production design and feature set may still change.

AREX ONE — AR Dive Computer Mask

AREX Vision is trying to move the dive computer from the wrist into the diver's natural field of view. Instead of placing a conventional screen in front of the eye, the system uses a compact optical engine and transparent waveguide concept to project information into the mask. The surrounding underwater view remains visible while dive information appears as a heads-up display.

The current campaign describes AREX ONE as a standalone dive computer after setup, so a phone or wrist computer should not be required during the dive. Current material lists air, Nitrox and Trimix support, single- and multi-cylinder configurations, gas switching, compass, temperature, alerts and dive logging. The decompression model is Bühlmann ZHL-16C with Gradient Factors.

What makes it interesting?

The key attraction is not simply another display. It is the possibility of keeping critical dive information available while the diver's hands and eyes remain focused on the environment, camera, scooter, line work or a buddy.

AREX also promotes optional air-integration concepts and marine-life identification features. Those ideas make the mask especially interesting as an example of where recreational and technical diving interfaces may be heading.

Prototype status: the current Kickstarter FAQ says CCR support is still in development and is not part of the initial release, while some earlier/public specification material mentions CCR. For now, all specifications should be treated as provisional until the production model and certifications are final.
